Project Description
PLACEPRESS
Center for Public History + Digital Humanities (CPHDH)
at Cleveland State University
Smart City Project Overview
PLACEPRESS is a WordPress plugin developed by the Center for Public History + Digital Humanities at Cleveland State University that offers a simple but powerful tool that enables users to create a custom post type with a map block to geolocate a post. With further development, PlacePress will enable anyone, including the smallest cultural organizations, to create free web-based interpretive tours that integrate seamlessly into any WordPress-based website. It is designed for public historians, urbanists, humanities researchers, educators, and cultural organizations to document locations such as historic sites. Pending a grant currently in review, we plan to refine and add features to the plugin in concert with regional and national partners.

The Center for Public History + Digital Humanities (CPHDH) at Cleveland State University Department of History develops state-of-the-art public humanities projects and resources rooted in scholarly disciplines in concert with university and K-12 educators and students, libraries, museums and cultural institutions, and neighborhood organizations.
