IMPACT STATEMENT
To replace and upgrade GCRTA's communication and CAD/AVL [Computer Aided Dispatch/Automatic Vehicle Location] system. Our system will provide safe and reliable radio communication while enhancing technology for our riders.
We're replacing an obsolete 20 year old radio system to enable audio communication directly to our Headquarters Communication Center with a state of the art national standard radio system and includes significantly improved coverage for our service area. This enables voice communications, through a statewide system, with our Transit Police and Dispatchers.
The system also tracks, in real time, the location of our entire fleet for on time performance in real time (every 15 seconds).
This allows apps to not only track every vehicle and provide that to our riders, but provides a level of safety and reliability heretofore not seen.
